NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department plans to have at least 450 officers on duty as Louisiana native rapper NBA YoungBoy is set to perform Sunday and Monday night in the Smoothie King Center.
"We tried to mostly use officers there around 12 hours, but there may be a small contingency of detectives who work eight hours and may have to work 12 hours at that time," said NOPD Deputy Chief Hans Ganthier.
But this plan concerns New Orleans City Council President JP Morrell, who believes the police overtime will only add to the city's $160 million deficit.
"This activation is going to make our deficit worse, and the revenue generated from it will not cover the cost by any stretch of the imagination," said Morrell.
