Southern University announced Friday it has issued a cease and desist letter against the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity chapter on campus over complaints of hazing.

The letter, penned by Director of Student Leadership and Engagement Winton Anderson, says university administration was told about a reported violation of Southern's hazing policies by the office of Student Conduct.

A full investigation into the hazing accusations is being conducted; meanwhile, the Beta Sigma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha is prohibited from:

Meeting in person anywhere on Southern's campus,

Wearing fraternity apparel during the probationary period,

Reserving any campus spaces,

Hosting off-campus events or co-sponsorships, and

Participating in Greek Life or other university-wide events.
