ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - People living in a Roanoke neighborhood are voicing their concerns about speeding on their street, which they say has become a major safety problem.

“It’s just an awful problem we have. Nobody pays attention to the speed limit. We have a school here and it’s concerning all of us here that something probably is going to happen and it’s going to be pretty bad,” said Doug Ashwell, who lives on Preston Avenue.

Neighbors on Preston Avenue next to Preston Park Elementary School say speeding is a major issue with drivers flying down the road every day.

“Everyone wants a safe neighborhood. It’s gotten to the point now that we’ve got so much traffic it appears that everybody loves this as a raceway a little bit,” said Gary Bannister, who lives on Preston Avenue.
