CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 23-year-old man died Thursday after being injured in a crash on Wadmalaw Island, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said.

Jonathan Marchant died on the scene around 1:15 a.m. after running off the road and hitting a tree at Maybank Highway and Oak Grove Road.

Marchant was the only person in the car when the crash occurred.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded and are investigating the collision.
