NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers in North Charleston captured a wanted man Wednesday after an hours-long search.
Derrick Lamont Niles, 30, was arrested for trespassing and indecent exposure charges.
The North Charleston Police Department was called to a business on Ashley Phosphate Road around 7 a.m. after a victim reported seeing an individual who had been issued a trespass notice in November 2024.
The victim said he had locked his shop door to keep Niles out and called 911.
When detectives arrived, they saw Niles fleeing on foot. A search ensued that lasted hours before they finally found him around 4 p.m. on Northwoods Boulevard.
Niles has several outstanding warrants with upstate law enforcement agencies and prior convictions for indecent exposure.
