The season is over before it started for a St. John’s freshman.

Imran Suljanovic suffered a dislocated patella during Thursday’s practice and is set to undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday, the school announced.

Suljanovic, a 6-8 wing from Austria, was not expected to have a significant role for the Red Storm this season, but head coach Rick Pitino touted his “great potential” upon landing his commitment.

Before signing with St. John’s, the 19-year-old Suljanovic played for Pallacanestro Reggiana in Northern Italy.

Suljanovic also averaged 22.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while playing for Austria at the International FIBA U18 EuroBasket competition over the summer.

His recovery is expected to take four to five months.
