A daughter’s request for sweets led her parents to win £524,000 in the EuroMillions.

Valdet Bujupi, 44, said he bought the lucky dip ticket because his daughter was insistent on picking up some sweets on their journey home in Barrow, Cumbria.

He said he caved in after she asked for the third time but picked up the ticket and matched five main numbers and a lucky star – 27, 30, 31, 41, 43 and 05 and 08.

After finding out he has won, he immediately rang his wife Abbey, 40, who was cleaning when she got the call.

She said: ‘I was cleaning the bathroom and was not impressed at having to take off my rubber gloves to answer the phone.

‘Valdet’s first words were “book New York, I’ve won the lottery”.’ As well as the planned trip to the US, Valdet said he is planning to send money to his mum
