If there’s a rock star in the labour relations world, it’s Vince Ready.

Known for his ability to draw out a deal from bickering parties, Ready’s is the go-to fixer for some of the country’s highest-profile labour disputes.

The veteran mediator and arbitrator has helped put teachers back in classrooms, unionized truckers and first responders back on the road, and mills and mines returned to operations — just some of the more than 7,000 labour and commercial disputes he has mediated during his four decades of private practice.

Now, in his early 80s, Ready is still, well, ready, willing and able to try brokering a deal between 25,000 striking B.C. General Employees’ Union workers and the government in a labour dispute now entering its seventh week.
