WASHINGTON — Asked Thursday about next year's Senate race in Louisiana, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise didn’t endorse the reelection of fellow Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy.
The race is already crowded with veteran Republican politicians challenging Cassidy.
In a live-streamed interview with Punchbowl , an online Capitol Hill news service, Scalise said he was too focused on his own reelection campaign to fret much about the Senate race.
“I’m just looking at my own race,” said Scalise, a Republican from Jefferson in suburban New Orleans.
He added that the pending U.S. Supreme Court decision on Louisiana’s congressional redistricting case could require changes in the state’s election maps.
“Obviously, I don’t know what my own district is going to look like,” Scalis
