MURRAY – During the Murray Independent School District Board of Education meeting Thursday night, the initial BG-1 (buildings and grounds) plans for the new Murray Elementary School project were submitted and approved. The design was explained by representatives from Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects of Lexington, Allison Commings, associate principal, and Kyley Byrd, associate AIA. The plan shown was the first of three phases for the design of the school.
“This is a 750-student elementary school,” said Commings. “The total construction cost, at this time, on the initial BG-1 plan is $33,488,000, which is a preliminary estimate. Other related costs for engineering fees, etc. bring the total to $42,000,000.”
