POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Powell County is known for its beautiful scenic views, but it was also the backdrop for an announcement from U.S. Senator Rand Paul, who is looking to bring more tourism there and other Eastern Kentucky counties.

Eastern Kentucky has several things to offer when it comes to tourism, but Senator Paul said there’s room for improvement.

“One thing that God gave us was the mountains, but I don’t think we’ve capitalized to the fullest,” he said.

For the last six months, Paul has been helping develop the Blossom and Leaf Trail, an enterprise approach to promoting tourism in 24 Eastern Kentucky counties.
