As the rock world mourns the death this week of legendary Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, who made music history with the New York band, The Sault Star’s Jeffrey Ougler thought it would be an interesting time to go back in the files and re-examine his 2009 chat with Tommy Thayer, the man who replaced Frehley when the latter departed the band of which he was an original member. This was Ougler’s second opportunity to interview a member of the famed makeup-clad rockers. His first brush with Kiss was speaking to founding member Paul Stanley in 2007 and Ougler would later interview drummer Eric Singer in 2010.
