NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that it arrested over 1,400 undocumented immigrants throughout Massachusetts during an operation titled Patriot 2.0.

ICE said that the operation focused on “transnational organized crime, gangs and egregious illegal alien offenders.”

Two of the targets of the operation, 47-year-old Mauricio Eguizabal-Ovalle of El Slavador and 42-year-old Mario Augusto Lopes-Barros of Cape Verde, were arrested in Bristol County, while 26-year-old Jordani Joseph of Haiti was arrested in New Bedford.

ICE said that Eguizabal-Ovalle was charged with indecent assault and battery, statutory rape, aggravated rape of a child with a five-year age gap, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and unnatural acts with a child, while Lopes
