WOOLMARKET, Miss. (WLOX) — Woolmarket Elementary’s gym is officially back open after renovations, and students couldn’t be more excited.

The building, considered by many to be the heart of the school, received a complete facelift just in time for the fall semester.

The walls inside and out got a fresh coat of paint, and bright new colors now fill the space where assemblies, performances, and events are held.

Even the school courtyard’s U.S. map got a makeover, thanks to parent volunteer Karlea Meadows Bociga, who spent time repainting the design by hand.

“It’s basically like the heart of our school,” sixth grader Brayden Newell said. “We’ve done almost everything in here [like] special events [and] presentations. The paint job is absolutely amazing, and I thank everyone who helped.”
