GILFORD — The homes of more than 100 residents will be safer, thanks to a free service of Gilford Fire-Rescue to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Senior Safety Day takes place on Saturday, Oct. 25, and while it has been geared toward the older population, Chief Steve Carrier said the service is available for any resident.
“Nobody will be turned away,” Carrier said. “We call it Senior Safety Day because it was originally developed to focus on the elderly, but it is for anyone across the whole community. There are no restrictions.”
According to Carrier, residents can request Gilford firefighters for a home visit to make sure their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly. Firefighters will install new batteries if needed, and change out smoke detectors if they ha
