Individuals residing in England and Wales, born before September 22, 1959, may be eligible for financial assistance from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help cover their heating costs this winter.

Eligible individuals will receive between £100 and £300 after Chancellor Rachel Reeves reinstated the winter fuel payment for nine million pensioners.

Most will automatically receive the money if they are eligible, but there have been changes to the system since previous years. Here are the five groups who will NOT receive a payment even if they are within the correct age bracket of 66 years old and live in England or Wales.

You are not eligible for winter fuel payments if you:

Earn more than £35,000 a year

Were in hospital receiving free treatment for the entire week of 15 to
