The top two ranked teams held serve at the IHSAA boys tennis state finals at North Central High School in Indianapolis on Friday, with No. 2 Homestead earning a second swing at top-ranked Carmel in today’s state championship round.
Homestead will be playing in the state championship match for the 10th time in school history and the first since 2006 as it still seeks its first state title in boys tennis.
The championship match is set for a 10 a.m. start today.
The Spartans swept all three singles spots to earn a 3-2 win over No. 23 Columbus North (15-7) in the quarterfinals, then won 4-1 against No. 5 South Bend St. Joseph (19-4) in the semifinals Friday that were moved up a day due to inclement weather in the forecast this afternoon in Indianapolis.
