WAVERLY, Tenn. (WSMV) - For the first time since the deadly explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems last Friday, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis is speaking out.

Sheriff Davis has gone through two mass tragedies in his county ­— the explosion that killed 16 people at Accurate Energetic Systems and a flood that killed 20 people in 2021.

The deadly flood took a huge toll on his community, and in this new phase of heartbreak and grief, Davis doesn’t think his community will ever be the same.

But Davis says the only way forward is to hold onto hope and to help as many people as he can.
