NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An investigation into a deadly hit-and-run is underway after a man was found injured on a road in Bellevue and later died at the hospital.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers responded to a call at 7:25 p.m. for a man who fell at the intersection of Old Hickory Blvd. and Rocky Lane.

Emergency personnel with the Nashville Fire Department also responded to the intersection.

Once at the scene, Nashville Fire medics began treating 63-year-old Robert Powell, of Arizona, and soon discovered his injuries were more aligned with being struck by a vehicle than with a fall.

Powell was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.
