MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Public Schools teachers, paraprofessionals, and adult educators could soon go on strike.
For the past several months, the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) has been negotiating with the district on a new contract.
MFE spokesperson Megan Boldt said state law requires district employees and the district to bargain every two years. She said it’s a good thing, but it takes a lot of time.
“No educator wants to go on strike; they want to be with their students, but MPS needs to make some movement on issues that are important not just to educators but parents,” she said.
Boldt said they haven’t been able to reach an agreement with the district. She said the two biggest things they are focusing on are class size limits and limiting the caseload for educators w
