(KY3) -The Missouri Department of Conservation returned a bald eagle to the wild Friday.

Anglers initially found the bird in Table Rock Lake in Barry County with fishing line wrapped around its wing.

B.J. Leonard, who found the bird, knew he had to do something. So, he called MDC. From there, a conservation officer rescued the eagle and took it to Dickerson Park Zoo for treatment.

After about three weeks, veterinarians determined the bird was ready to fly and eat on its own again. On Friday afternoon, Leonard and the officer who freed the eagle watched as it returned home.
