JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) - In the first game at newly dedicated Bennett Memorial Stadium, Saxony Lutheran took home a triumphant 42-28 victory over Massac County.

The Crusaders began the night with a celebration of the late Dr. Michael Bennett, whose children and now grandchildren attend the school. Bennett was involved with the Saxony Lutheran community during his life. Current principal Mark Ruark shared memories of the time they spent together. Bennett’s family members were on the field as applause rang in the dedication of the new stadium.

But that was just the start of the plans to celebrate the school’s first home game. Saxony Lutheran’s inflatable tunnel towered over one end zone, with players streaming out and running onto their turf for the first time in a game.
