CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - An event empowering people to stand up against sexual and domestic violence is happening soon in southern Illinois.
Take Back the Night is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, October 24 at Turley Park in Carbondale.
Organizers say there will be survivor testimonies, speakers and chants.
New this year, there will be live music and a wreath-making project with affirmations and statements of support.
There will also be a Silent Witness Exhibit, which features a life-size cutout representing a woman who lost her life to domestic violence, with a placard telling her story.
The event will again feature the Clothesline Project, a visual representation of people who’ve experienced violence.
