BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Tons of students gathered Friday night for the University of Maine’s 13th annual March Against Domestic Violence.
Men and women came out to walk alongside each other, while creating awareness for a problem that is very prevalent behind closed doors.
After the march, participants went inside to give speeches, read poems, and sing songs.
There was a brief flower-giving ceremony to honor the names of people in the surrounding counties that have lost their lives to domestic violence in recent years.
For Casper Cowan, president of the UMaine Triota society and an organizer of the march, it’s all about bringing attention to current victims of the issue, while breathing life into the memories of past victims.
