And then there were four at the State Girls Tennis Championships — and one them will be Verona junior McKenna Thorson, yet again.
Thorson won her quarterfinal match Friday afternoon in double-bagel fashion: 6-0, 6-0. She'll play in the semifinals Saturday.
The reigning state runner-up says she's cool, calm and collected this year at the WIAA championship, compared to her run to the title match last year as a sophomore.
"I'm not trying to get too ahead of myself," Thorson said. "I am taking it one step at a time, but obviously, my goal is to win. And I feel like everybody who comes here to compete, everybody wants to win."
