Memorial services for Patti Arnold, long the most recognized sports face of The Daily Sentinel, are to be announced.

Arnold died recently at her home in Grand Junction. She was 67.

Arnold’s career at The Sentinel began in 1985 and continued through 2023, a 37-year run as the doyenne of the diamond for the Alpine Bank National Junior College Baseball World Series, consistent source of Grand Valley collegiate sporting news and unofficial biographer of many a Mesa County athlete.

More than one person described Arnold as the Queen of JUCO, Miss JUCO or a similar sobriquet. Her nicknames were well earned, on practically a daily basis, and her knowledge extended beyond the chalk lines.
