HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An investigation is underway after a University of Hawaii at Manoa student was hit by pellets from an airsoft-type gun.
It happened on Maile Way at around 8:20 p.m. Thursday.
According to UH Manoa’s Department of Public Safety (DPS), a student heard the sound of airsoft bursts and was hit twice on the left side of his neck.
He saw a truck drive by with two males laughing inside and an airsoft gun pointed toward his head. The truck reportedly fled toward University Avenue.
While not lethal, airsoft guns fire small, plastic pellets that can cause serious injury, campus officials said.
The vehicle was described as a dark colored truck with roll bars.
Anyone with information is asked to contact UH Manoa DPS at (808) 956-6911 or 911.
