Since President Donald Trump took office, the attacks against higher education have only mounted — and not just at Harvard University.

During a four-hour legislative hearing on Tuesday held by the Joint Committee on Racial Equity, Civil Rights, and Inclusion, higher education leaders and students spoke about a range of topics from drops in international student enrollment to the consequences of federal attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion and increased food insecurity among students.

“I think their [the Trump administration’s] bigger strategy is chaos and divide and conquer,” Rob McCarron, president and CEO of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts, said during the hearing.
