MANOA, Hawaii (Island News) -- An investigation is underway after a student was shot with an airsoft-type gun from a truck at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Thursday night.
The drive-by incident took place at 8:23 p.m. on Oct. 16 on Maile Way. A dark-colored truck with roll bars drove past a student and shot at him with the pistol.
UH Manoa Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the student heard the sound of airsoft bursts and found that he was struck twice on the left side of his neck. After the attack, he noticed two guys laughing inside of the truck before it drove off towards University Avenue.
The student also reported the incident to police.
