Residents Could Receive Cash Rewards for Helping Identify and Convict Suspects

Los Angeles is moving forward with a new incentive program aimed at curbing metal and wire theft from public infrastructure, after the City Council voted this week to advance an ordinance that would pay residents for tips leading to arrests and convictions, as reported by ABC News.

The council voted 8–2 on Tuesday to tentatively approve the proposal, which would establish a Metal and Wire Theft Reward Program. A second and final vote is scheduled for Oct. 21, after which the measure would go to Mayor Karen Bass for signature.
