SHREVEPORT, La. - A Shreveport man was found guilty of second-degree murder Friday in Caddo District Court.
A jury found Ernie Campbell, 41, guilty in the murder of Regmond Mitchell, 25.
Campbell shot and killed Mitchell in 2022, after Mitchell had driven a passenger to a residence on Barbara Avenue in Shreveport.
Authorities say Campbell approached the car then a brief exchange occurred. Mitchell turned his head away from Campbell, who then fired a gun once, hitting Mitchell in the head. Mitchell died at the scene.
Campbell argued he fired in self-defense, a claim rejected by the jury.
Campbell faces a mandatory life sentence without probation, parole or suspension of sentence when he returns to court November 12.
