Maybe it was the short week out of the classroom. Maybe it was next week’s highly-anticipated matchup with Columbus.
Hitchcock experienced a few ups and downs here and there, but it did plenty of right things to put away an overmatched Hempstead squad 35-0 at Bulldog Stadium on Friday night.
Coach Craig Smith will always take victories in any way, shape or form.
“I don’t know if we’re looking ahead with Columbus next week. We were a little out of routine,’’ said Smith, whose club improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in District 12-3A-I. “We were out on fall break all week. I thought the kids handled that pretty well.
“At the same time, you want to get through these kind of games and be healthy and work on some things.’’
