SEYMOUR, Wis. (WMTV) -A 37-year-old man was arrested after Lafayette County deputies seized 19 dogs from a property where authorities said the animals were severely neglected.

The man was taken into custody at the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office at about 7:30 p.m., Friday. He was booked into the Lafayette County Jail.

Thursday night, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in the Town of Seymour for a welfare check.

During the investigation, deputies learned of an alleged animal neglect situation involving numerous dogs at the home.

A deputy trained in the humane treatment of animals responded to help the other deputies on scene.
