ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis and state leaders are working to sort out what’s next on Friday while the city sheriff sits in jail.

A federal judge revoked Sheriff Alfred Montgomery’s bond Tuesday.

The question now — who picks the next sheriff if the current one is removed?

“I think the sheriff needs to resign. We need to move on and get new leadership in that office,” Anne Schweitzer, Ward 1 Alderwoman said.

“Do you think he should resign? You know, I think when it comes to him resigning, he’s been clear he will not. That’s abundantly clear,” Alisha Sonnier, Ward 7 Alderwoman said.
