AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 13th Formula 1 race at the Circuit of the Americas will take place Sunday, but drivers are already on the track.
The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) held an F1 car presentation at 11:00 a.m. on Friday ahead of the drivers practicing on the COTA track.
Practice 1 began Friday at 12:30 p.m. ahead of the Sprint Qualifying at 4:30 p.m.
According to the official Formula 1 page, Max Verstappen took his third United States Grand Prix Sprint pole in succession. Ollie Bearman, Yuki Tsunoda, Esteban Ocon and Gabriel Bortoleto failed to reach the line in time to begin their final attempts, and they all dropped out of the session.
Saturday’s Sprint is expected to begin at noon and end at 12:30 p.m. It involves 19 laps. The qualifying session begins at 4 p.m.
