ST. HELENA ISLAND — Almost a week has passed since the afterparty where gunfire killed four people and injured 16 others. Memorials have sprung up around Willie’s Bar and Grill , which hosted the event that turned violent in the early hours of Oct. 12 .
DNA evidence, guns and shell casings were sent to crime labs. Video recordings were forwarded to the FBI for clarification. Hundreds of people witnessed the melee, many likely carrying phones with video cameras, but law enforcement has not made any arrests.
Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner said on Oct. 15 that no one had been willing to name the gunmen.
“We have yet to get a witness that can tell us who the shooters are,” he said at a news conference . “It’s ridiculous to even think of that.”
Tanner attributed the silence to fe
