SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Hundreds of Suncoast residents in Sarasota participated in a “No Kings Day” rally in Sarasota.

“We have the power of the people behind us to protect American Democracy,” Christine Meier said when asked what the large turnout showed her.

Nearly a thousand residents were armed with signs, chants, and cheers Saturday morning, lining University Boulevard for Indivisible Manatee’s No Kings Day rally.

People at the rally were protesting the actions of the Trump Administration.

“I am a grandparent, and I am obviously most concerned about my granddaughters and all the rights that have been taken away, and it’s not just women, human rights, gay rights, they are in our family, this is our friends, this is our community,” Jan Aldamuy said.
