2Virginia man killed in Lincoln crash after chain-reaction wreck at traffic light

LINCOLN, DE – A 68-year-old man from Portsmouth, Virginia, was killed Friday afternoon when a three-vehicle collision on Dupont Boulevard pushed his car into the path of a tanker truck, according to Delaware State Police.

The deadly crash happened just after 2 p.m. at the intersection of Dupont Boulevard and Johnson Road. Investigators say the man was driving a Hyundai Sonata northbound and slowing for a yellow or red light when a Honda Accord behind him failed to brake and slammed into the rear of his vehicle.

The impact sent the Hyundai into the intersection, where it was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound Freightliner tanker truck passing through Johnson Road.
