Train journeys are about to get a little colourful and a lot more comfortable. Indian Railways has launched a new initiative where passengers travelling in AC coaches will receive blanket covers adorned with traditional Sanganeri prints which highlights Rajasthan’s rich textile heritage. The project was launched as a pilot at Jaipur’s Khatipura Railway Station and will be tested on select trains before being introduced across the country.

The move aims to replace the plain white blankets that often drew complaints from passengers about cleanliness. On the first day of the rollout, travellers on the Jaipur–Ahmedabad (Asarva) Express, which departed at 8:45 PM, were given these new printed covers.
