Oregon State women’s basketball will be without its top returning scorer and one of its senior leaders this season.

Catarina Ferreira is out for the year with a knee injury, she announced on Instagram.

“It’s not easy, but I’m staying positive and will keep supporting my team in every way I can,” Ferreira wrote in her Instagram post. “Thank you for the love and prayers. I will be back stronger next season.”

Ferreira — a senior from São Paulo, Brazil — was the West Coast Conference tournament MVP last season, leading the Beavers in scoring in all three games. The physical, six-foot tall guard averaged 9.5 points and was second on the team at 7.3 rebounds per game.
