BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Fire Department (BFD) responded to a house fire that turned fatal Saturday morning in the Elmwood Village neighborhood in Buffalo.

According to a statement from the Buffalo Police Department and the Buffalo Fire Department, city fire companies responded to reports of "ringing alarms" at 428 Norwood Avenue.

When companies responded to the scene, they found the house to be on fire, the fire was contained to the first floor of the structure. The damage to the house was estimated at $100,000.

Three people in the home were rescued. Two people, a 29-year-old woman and an infant were pronounced dead at the scene. The other resident, a 30-year-old man, was transported to ECMC with serious injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is under investigation.
