LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) has approved an emergency order temporarily reducing trout fishing limits across four of the state’s most popular coldwater fisheries, including Beaver Lake Dam’s tailwater, after hatchery losses drastically cut trout production.

The emergency order, approved Oct. 16, follows major losses at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Norfork National Fish Hatchery and flood damage earlier this year at AGFC’s Jim Hinkle State Fish Hatchery on the Spring River.

Together, those incidents wiped out millions of trout that would have been stocked in the coming months, officials say.
