SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Ninety LSU Health Shreveport medical students presented original research this week during the Medical Student Research Program (MSRP) poster session, marking the culmination of five weeks of mentored research.
According to a news release, the program gives students early exposure to scientific inquiry, strengthens lab skills, and prepares them for the National Residency Match Program. First place was awarded to Claire Brescher for her project in basic or clinical research.
Second-year student Theresa Schauer presented a study on public attitudes toward childhood obesity, noting that Louisiana has the third-highest rate in the nation.
“Medical research teaches us critical thinking skills that will translate into working independently with patients,” Schauer
