The Columbia Museum of Art’s Diwali celebrations returned to Soda City this past Thursday. The CMA has been hosting an event for the Festival of Lights for over five years in order to honor and bring together Columbia’s large Indian community.

Diwali is the Indian Festival of Lights and celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Columbia locals of all ages and backgrounds came together to participate in traditions and learn about Indian culture.

Guests in attendance were invited to try Indian dishes like samosas and naan, and sample masala chai. Diwali activities, including Bhangra and Bollywood dance tutorials from Gruv Dance Academy and Panna Chauhan, were also available on site, as well as local Indian clothing and jewelry vendors that visitors could s
