The DVLA has announced that older drivers will lose certain freedoms once they turn 70-years-old. ‌

Officials have confirmed motorists will lose C1 and D1 entitlements on their driving licence when they reach the milestone in a blow to elderly road users. ‌

Millions of pensioners will lose the right to drive certain heavier vehicles weighing over 3,500kg. ‌

This primarily affects Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) but could also impact some motorhomes, dealing a blow to retirement plans.

Those wanting to keep their entitlements may need to take additional tests to prove they're safe on the roads.
