Thousands of Bay Staters protested the Trump administration across the Commonwealth on “No Kings Day,” as a leading Republican gubernatorial candidate told residents to consider how Gov. Maura Healey has led the state.
Tens of thousands packed Boston Common, holding signs with messages of disapproval of President Trump, while similar scenes played out at over 100 other protests in Massachusetts. Demonstrations unfolded nationwide.
Trump defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in last November’s presidential election, winning the popular vote, 49.8% to 48.3%. He also garnered 312 electoral votes.
Mayor Michelle Wu headlined the protest at the Common, reminding the progressive crowd that “every voice is heard” in Boston, which she called the “cradle of liberty” for the past 250 years.
