CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A shelter in Cedar Rapids is asking for help getting enough dog food to meet its needs.
Dogs Forever dog shelter welcomed some new faces this week: Dante, Fern, and Pixie.
They’re coming from Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control, which is undergoing much needed improvements .
“So we’ve been going out there probably at least once a week and pulling at least one dog, depending on how much space we have,” Joyce Thompson, shelter manager for Dogs Forever said.
Helping out means Dogs Forever is close to its capacity of 10 dogs at a time.
“We’re a small shelter, but they still need to be fed,” Thompson said.
That food can get expensive for the nonprofit. That’s why its asking help during its food drive.
“That cost for the year is like $5,000. So that’s $5,000
