WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — Connecticut teens are being called to create video public service announcements with compelling messages that motivate their peers to always practice safe driving when behind the wheel.
It’s Connecticut’s 17th annual Teen Safe Driving Video Contest, which is hosted by the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles and Travelers.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced Friday that local teens and their high schools can win up to $26,000 in prizes by entering a submission.
According to a state release, traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for teens ages 15 to 18 in the United States. Nationally, a total of 2,611 people were killed in traffic crashes involving a teen in 2023.
