BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Bridgeport Islanders hit the ice for the second time in consecutive nights on Saturday.
This time, they threw it back to honor their roots as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
At Total Mortgage Arena, the energy wasn’t just about the game — it was about the name. For one night, the Islanders became the Sound Tigers again, celebrating their history and reconnecting with their longtime fans.
Bruce Charamut, a longtime fan, said that when his son was in first grade, he would take him from Trumbull to Bridgeport to watch the Sound Tigers.
"It was great. So, we’ve been going to Sound Tigers games, now Bridgeport Islanders games, [for a long time]. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s nice to see the retro going back to the Sound Tigers," Charamut said.
The team was originally
