One of Florida football's most dynamic weapons has been hampered.
Freshman WR Vernell Brown III exited the game late in the game for the Gators vs. Mississippi State. Brown caught a 9-yard pass from QB DJ Lagway for a first down and was sandwiched between Bulldog defenders. He left the field under his own power but was holding his shoulder, appearing to be in immense pain.
Brown was later spotted on the sideline, but he has yet to return to the game. The Gainesville native and product of Orlando-Jones has splashed onto the scene in his first six games as a Gator. He caught a 50-yard bomb in the first half of Saturday's game.
He became the third true freshman to start a season opener at WR for Florida vs. LIU, where he finished with three catches for 79 yards. Brown has at least 56
